Wayne Coyne Announces the Release of “The Sun Is Sick” (his first comic) Wayne Coyne Announces the Release of “The Sun Is Sick” (his first comic)

sunissickFlaming Lips figurehead and residential space punk psychotropic love stomper, Wayne Coyne, has gone and made a comic book and he’s calling it The Sun Is Sick. Details on the text are spare but we do know that the work is 40-pages, 6 ½” x 8 ½” and full friggin’ color and will make its debut at Comic Con on July 18th (through 21st) after which point its limited run will be available in the Lips gift shop. Anyone familiar with the band’s recent turn towards weird sex, death and psychic regeneration shouldn’t be too surprised to learn that the comic is “adult” in theme but regardless, we’re compelled to share the following statement which was forwarded to us by the good people at Warner Brothers:

“WARNING!! The Sun Is Sick may be a comic book but make no mistake; this is not suitable for children and depending on what sort of person you are, it may not be suitable for some of you non-children either. If you have doubts at this moment then The Sun Is Sick is not for you. If you happen to be a LIPS fan that has enjoyed Wayne’s beautiful artwork in the past and like adult-themed comic books then by all means this instant Collector’s Item is waiting for you…”

For more info on The Sun Is Sick, look to Paste Magazine who’ll be running a preview/interview with Mr. Coyne regarding the making of the comic on July 17th.
