Outside Lands 2014 Spotlight: Bleachers Outside Lands 2014 Spotlight: Bleachers

2014 Governors Ball Music Festival - Day 3There’s going to come a point when it all hits at once. The music, the booze, the spliff, the crowd and whatever was in that water bottle; and you’re the goddamn mayor of confetti jungle town, and all the animals are swinging from the trees with you. Sometimes you can time it perfectly with your favorite band, sometimes it just chooses for you. It might not happen every day, it might happen twice in a day and it may not happen at all; but if I have my druthers, I’ll be just about ready to be an animal for Bleachers.

Bleachers is the dude from fun., who’s first single, “I Wanna Get Better,” led us all to believe that Bleachers was going to be one of the most hook-filled, dance parties of the festival season. And everything we’ve heard about Bleachers’ live performance from Charles at Governor’s Ball leads me to believe this is going to be the indie-pop explosion we’re all looking for.

Since the initial hitter, Bleachers has released a full length album, Strange Desire, which was a little less saccharine than I think everyone expected, yet still contained a few hits. Nevertheless, don’t doubt this dude’s ability to get a crowd moving, and if there was ever a setting for a Petty cover, this would be it.

But fuck it, Outside Lands is officially 24 hours away, and I’m ready to dance, people! Or animals.

Catch Bleachers on the Twin Peaks Stage, Friday August 8th at 2:10pm
