No Age Release New Single, Anti-Video for “C’mon Stimmung” No Age Release New Single, Anti-Video for “C’mon Stimmung”

an objectA few years ago, I would have been loathe to share anything from No Age as I firmly believed their music to be the work of a bored and boring Teufel duo helming a preciously bespectacled cabal of ennui ire artists whose commitment to an anti craft just sucked the wonder out of punk and left me boiling in the blood of so many Ramones long gone before their last full-length, Everything in Between. But it’s 2013 and I’ve been up late recently listening to Metal Machine Music and the first four solo efforts of Brian Eno so I think I’m finally beginning to get what the boys who once blazed hell as Wives are and have been all about. Yes, their work is anti but it’s anti in the vein of Marcel Duchamp and Water Music or the vainglorious mindfuckery of post-punk luminaries, Wire. So I am stoked to report that the band has a new record coming out soon – An Object (Sub Pop, 8.20.13) – for which they will revive, in a sense, the DIY aspect of The Factory by designing, die-cutting and assembling the packaging themselves. Awesome, right? To whet our appetites, No Age have recently shared an anti-video (DADA! DADA! DADA!) for the stand out track, “C’Mon Stimmung” which I’m banking is a reference to a the piece for six voices and six microphones by legendary 20th Century German composer Karlheinz Stockhausen. You can watch (or just listen to) No Age’s “C’Mon Stimmung” below and beneath that dig on Stockhausen’s “Stimmung” and tell me if I’m right. Also, true to form, the band will be touring like crazy starting in a week. All dates fill up the bottom of this page.
