Have a Nice Life - 2/28/10 - The Stone - New York, NY

This is fucking hardcore.

Armor pieced together in stolen days and desperate nights. Chinked. Torn. Tatters of the New England winter.

Four friends. New mountain men with amplifiers in a room not half the size of them. Their sound is a tower. A wave. A rogue dog with bloodied lips standing at the end of American history. Looking wild into the audience. Lonely. Defiant. Worn hard by the long fight to stay alive despite the elements, the enemies that creep along with tired songs of easy salvation.

Yet hopeful.

Even crawling on the ground. Pounding. Scratching for enough breath to howl.

This is the reason why I fucking love music and why I can never trust someone who doesn’t.

It is the edict of man. It is the last transcendence of the beast into something of incomparable purity. It is tragic. It is beautiful. It is us as we are meant to be.

Something so much bigger than our works, our words, our worth.

God’s echo in the shell.
