Frenchkiss Records Partners with The Orchard to Form Frenchkiss Label Group Frenchkiss Records Partners with The Orchard to Form Frenchkiss Label Group

New York, NY — January 25, 2012 – Syd Butler (head of Frenchkiss Records/bassmaster general of Les Savy Fav) has partnered with pioneering global independent music and video distribution company The Orchard to form Frenchkiss Label Group (FKLG). The group, created in Butler’s image, will serve as a place for “developing labels to transform into developed labels.”

FKLG will follow in the spirit of such renowned (and some, sadly defunct) indie institutions as Revolver, Secretly Canadian and Touch & Go to “(build a) distribution platform expressly to empower…clients by connecting them to their audiences, creating promotional and commercial opportunities for them and maximizing their growth potential,” says Brad Navin, CEO of The Orchard.

Leading the day-to-day operations as Senior Vice President of FKLG will be Jordy Trachtenberg (who held senior positions at Gammon Records, The Orchard and IODA). Director of Label Relations will be Francesca Stabile (formerly of The Village Voice and Showcase Coordinator of the CMJ Music Marathon in 2009/2010). The Orchard will provide distribution services to labels signed to FKLG.

“Playing music and operating a successful music label is what I know and love. The Frenchkiss Label Group presents an opportunity for developing labels to learn from my achievements and mistakes,” says Butler. “We’re excited that The Orchard is by our side and we look forward to receiving our first submissions!”

FKLG is taking submissions. Contact Jordy Trachtenberg at jordy@frenchkisslabelgroup.com.
