Lana Del Rey – “National Anthem”

So, despite all the Lana Del Rey hullabaloo that’s existed primarily on the internet over the past year or so, this is actually the first time we at Pinpoint have posted ANYTHING regarding Ms. Del Rey. We haven’t been “taking a stand” or been “grounded in our principles”, It just happened like that. However, personally, I’m offended by fake lips. They’re never-not-obvious, and you’re forcing me to stare at your mouth and consequently feel like a pervert. This isn’t exclusive to Lana Del Rey, all you women and men with fake lips are dicks.

Everything A$AP Rocky touches in 2012 is fire. According to me.

The Presets – “Youth In Trouble”

The Presets were just announced as one of the top-billed acts at the Treasure Island Music Festival in San Francisco – which caught my attention because up until then, this band/act/duo/watheverthefuck, had not really been on my radar. I guess it just goes to show how uneducated I am with electronic music. The video is just something they’d play at a club on a giant screen, but the song doesn’t suck. I guess. I don’t know.

Dum Dum Girls – “Mine Tonight” (Rhapsody Series: Stripped Down in a Yurt)

Someone who as access please invite these girls to go camping with me. I know they look super hip and, I don’t know, LA-ish, but I think they’re exactly the type of girls who “wouldn’t seem like the type” but would totally catch everyone by surprise and be super fucking awesome to go camping with. A boy can dream.

Lupe Fiasco – Around My Way (Freedom Ain’t Free)

Wow. This is Lupe’s best shit since Food & Liquor. Easy. Great jazz sample (Herbie, I believe), great subject matter, great references and homages (“cash rules everything around these ni**as”) and great video. Very promising shit for his new album.
