Fronted by Michael Fitzpatrick and Noelle Scaggs, Fitz & The Tantrums performed to a sold out crowd at Hollywood’s Palladium on April 5th, 2014. The 18-song set, opening with “Get Away” was a night-long test to see who had more dance-umph to give – the band or the audience. Fitz, who have moved and shifted from soul revival into a smoother retro /pop concoction, filled the venue with thrashing tambourines fueled by swinging hips. The crowd’s involuntary grooving in front of the heart-shaped LED display paved way for hot-n-sweaty grandiosity. Fitz & The Tantrums’ beat-heavy shout-alongs and infectious hooks proved that this was more than just a dream. The 6-piece gave us an evening of unhinged electricity and Motown-pop resurrection. Fitzpatrick and Scaggs were provocative energy in tandem as they played off each other… and after watching this live show, the origin of their name is certainly not in question. Having closed with the ever popular whistle-along hit The Walker, it is quite clear that we can’t keep up with their rhythm though we keep tryin’.

Fitz & The Tantrums were opened by Los Angeles’ Nightmare & The Cat who boast seductive pop elements with edgier rock and folk tendencies. And 4-piece band Bad Suns with catchy hooks and rhythms that are also rewarding to the indie-sayer.
