Coachella 2010 - No Single Day Tickets

LA Times is reporting that there will not be single day tickets sold for Coachella this year; you’re alternative is a $269 3 day pass + service charges for a total around $300. As far as I’m concerned this is a piss poor move by the festivals brass over at Goldenvoice. Goldenvoice leader, and festival architect, Paul Tollett is saying that the reason is because single ticket concert goers are buying up all the hotel rooms in Indio, and that those hotels have 3 night minimums during the festival. I find this excuse extremely flimsy since it could be deduced that with more hotel rooms available there would be less camping passes sold which would ultimately decrease the festivals gate earnings.
Regardless of how I feel Tollett is on record saying that, “there is no intention to make it (single passes) available closer to the fest or even at the Coachella gate”. Well at least camping prices were reduced by $2.
