Kaptain Carbon:

Kaptain Carbon's tenure at pinpoint music was born out of a lost bet and a slight inside joke. The wager involved an autumn evening, three yards of silk and a slightly aggravated bear. How the good Kaptain came to Pinpoint is irrelevant now as he has made it his goal to never leave.  In fact, the offices at pinpoint music recently began changing their locks to force the kaptain to retire to his own lodgings, rather than under his desk.  But through open window, foodcart or unsecured air vent, he will be there at 7 in the morning -- with coffee, cigarettes and black metal.

Swans – My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky

I know nothing of this band and what they are about. Alright, that is not true. But I always feel that I need to know more of their extensive catalog. Swans always makes me self conscious. Swans makes me feel like everything I listened to up until that point has...

Optimus Gryme – Eclipse LP

Optimus Gryme – Eclipse LP

Optimus Gryme is a ridiculous name. I do not know if it is better or worse than “Optimus Rhyme;” the Seattle based Transformers themed rap group. I am even confused whether or not Optimus Grime is a different artist or if the same producer shares two spellings of his name....

Crippled Black Phoenix – I, Vigilante

Crippled Black Phoenix is an English super group consisting of members from seminal metal and post rock backgrounds; Mogwai, Iron Monkey, Electric Wizard and Portishead. Being a super group, the project had a admirable start followed by an unsteady early flight. The entire theme surrounding Crippled Black Phoenix is a...

Girl Talk – All Day

Free Download http://illegal-art.net/allday/ I give a lot of credit Greg Gillis better known as Girl Talk. I give, perhaps too much, credit for something as simple as dance music. Girl Talk has been known for his extensive collages of popular music. His live shows have been hallmarked by the popular...

Deerhunter – Halcyon digest

Deerhunter – Helicopter Deerhunter is a slippery beast. Their output of contemporary dreampop/shoegaze has been met with positive accolades. In fact since 2007, it appears that Deerhunter has yet to release a failure or flop of a record. Deerhunter could be the darkhorse of the decade, while always taking high...

Geographer – Animal Shapes

In 2009, Spin magazine named Geographer as one of the “three undiscovered bands you need to hear.” This publicity and break is critical for bands wanting to break out of the murky under-depths of obscurity. In recent times, blog hype and initial press surrounding a band has been a easy...

Metallica – Six Feet Down Under EP

Note: Microsoft Office Word 2003 recognizes “Metallica” as a proper noun but not Megadeth or the capitalized version of Slayer If you’re Metallica, you do not have to give a reason for doing anything. If you want to release an album trying to reignite the intensity of older albums, you...

Of Montreal – False Priest

I imagine the Beatles sounding something similar to Of Montreal if they continued into the 70s and discovered inter-Dimensional travel. To be honest, I know little of Of Montreal before “Hissing Fauna Are You The Destroyer?” I, like most, people were led to the band due to large critical press...
