Kaptain Carbon:

Kaptain Carbon's tenure at pinpoint music was born out of a lost bet and a slight inside joke. The wager involved an autumn evening, three yards of silk and a slightly aggravated bear. How the good Kaptain came to Pinpoint is irrelevant now as he has made it his goal to never leave.  In fact, the offices at pinpoint music recently began changing their locks to force the kaptain to retire to his own lodgings, rather than under his desk.  But through open window, foodcart or unsecured air vent, he will be there at 7 in the morning -- with coffee, cigarettes and black metal.

Islands – A Sleep and A Forgetting

To be fair, I was excited at the announcement of a new Islands record. I may have screamed like prepubescent girl. In 2006, Islands released Return to Sea which took over my life for at least 4 months. This was during a period in my life when I was discovering...

Tape Wyrm XVII – Ten Recent Recommendations

Recent Recommendations I remember when first broaching to our editor Ben the subject of Tape Wyrm. Die Antwoord – Ten$ion

Die Antwoord is a very visual band. Since their 2010 unearthing, this South African quasi ironic rap group has been hinged on the visual accompaniment to their music. Die Artwoord’s style is an artful blend of low culture, folk elements and batshit crazy occultism which intends to entertain as much...

Crippled Black Phoenix – (Mankind) The Crafty Ape

What? Holy shit. Crippled Black Phoenix‘s releases always catch me by surprise. Actually someone should let Wikipedia know these guys have a new album because the band is still stuck in 2010 on their page. Crippled Black Phoenix is a UK post rock band who somehow continues to make post...

Leonard Cohen – Old Ideas

I fucking love Leonard Cohen‘s work. This is important when reading this review. Leonard Cohen, for me, resides in a special place for silver age singer songwriters whose legacy and consistency eclipses their mortal age. They can do no wrong because they have earned that right. Johnny Cash did this...

Todd Terje – It’s the Arps

Ohh yeah that guy. Wait, who? To be honest I never heard of Todd Terje until the beginning of this sentence. My interest in It’s The Arps EP was merely based on a vague promise of disco. Well, holy shit Todd Terje never disappoints. Well, at least he didn’t disappoint...

WATERS – Out In The Light

WATERS – Out In The Light

Usually I give great care to the type of typographical choices an artist desires for their moniker. This is crucial in writing witch-house reviews and it will make itself apparent with WATERS. I am not yelling merely just repeating the band name. WATERS is the continuation of indie folk group...
